For those Camel Forum folks who live where it snows and the roads get salted, do any of you take your Camels on the roads, and if so, does the salt burn their soles? Do you have to wash the pads off after your walks? I know road salt can burn Dogs' footpads, and just wondered if Camels had tougher pads on the bottoms of their feet than Dogs do. :)

Dromedaries don’t do good on slippery surfaces so your not likely to find anyone that takes them out in these conditions. Bactrian camels, when trained can handle slippery conditions. But there’s not that many Bactrian’s around so I don’t think this has been a problem. Camel’s pads do not do will in extended wet weather and I think salt would make it worse.

Thanks, Roger. I wondered about the road salt because if I had Bactrian and could ride it, I'd want to be able to go down the roads with it in Winter. I suppose I'll have to go crosslots now. lol :joker :rofl :) :D
