Okay Scott, here are some videos from my last trip to India. No camels this time, mostly elephants.
These where done handheld and I was loaded down with my other camera equipment, so they are a bit rough.
Some of my elephant friends at the Amber fort near Jaipur India.
All of the elephant handles know me well and I'm often given elephant or horse back rides around town along with invitations to lunch and dinner at their homes.

And here's one of the Elephant's homes in the old part of Jaipur

Taking an auto rickshaw to one of the elephant houses in Jaipur, this one is near the Lake Palace on the way to the Amber Fort.

Showing off and exercising their horses at the Sonepur Fair, India.
They still call this the worlds largest animal fair, and maybe 20 years ago it still was, but now days there are only 50 elephants, about 500 horses, 100 cattle and a hand full of other animals.

The main thing that you need to do is cut down that wind noise in your videos. Make sure to get a camera where you can attach an external microphone. Here's a photo of one of my older cameras, the furry microphone cover is missing in this photo.

My new Video Camera is a Sony HDR-CX520.
It's exhalant in low light.
Comes with flash memory not hard drive, thus it removes the risk of hard drive crash. With a click of a button on my computer I can send the video to YouTube.
Optical SteadyShot Active Mode gives up to 10x less camera shake, now improved with 3-Way Shake-Cancelling stabilization. World’s first to reduce camera shake in 3 directions during video shooting.
Built in GPS for automatic geotagging of clips and still images. On your computer it brings up the Google Earth map and shows you where the photo was taken, also can bring up a calendar to find your videos.
Here's some footage I shot heading to the old Indore Fort ruins on a very rough road.

They are both good cameras. The HDR-XR500v has microphone and headphone jacks which is very good. it's a little larger, heaver and having a hard drive there will be a little noise with slight vibration along with worse battery life. The hard drive could be a problem when bouncing around like I was or that old dirt road or when riding a horse.
The HDR-CX520 that I have is a little over kill for most people, but is suits my needs. It's smaller, lighter, has better image stabilization and better battery life with its flash hard drive. All new video cameras are starting to use flash drives and even laptop computers are going that way.
Sony HDR-CX520 Night Vision Test using the built in IR light.
This clip was twice as bright before putting it on YouTube. I also got 3 more brighter IR lights that I can add to the camera.
Here we are zooming in on a zebra, I think she sees us!

Horses and cobra snakes at the 2009 Sonepur Animal Fair.
Here you can see how horses stakeout in India, then we head over to see a snake charmer. Not too many years back you could find scores of snake charmers thought-out India. But now Snake Charming has been outlawed, the reason why is they would use a red-hot steel rod and burn out the cobra's poison glands, or another way of making a cobra safe to handle would be removing its fangs. Between 4 to 6 weeks later the snake would die.
The person in this video seems to be more of an educator about the different types of snakes, that may be why he's allowed to continue.

I will try to get some videos of the Pushkar Camel Fair posted soon.
