Okay, here's one of those questions that I was afraid to ask but am gonna ask anyway because I'm curious about it. Do Camels use a "communtiy dung pile" the way Llamas do, or do they just "poo" wherever? Also, is the dung pelletted like a Llamas, or more solid like a horse's or a cow's?
See, I told ya! :o

Think of them as a large goat. If you know about goats this should answer your question…. :o Ok I will make it easier for you, they go anywhere and everywhere, even while laying down, and it’s large pellets. :D

Since you’re asking about camel dung, thought I would go ahead and post a picture of some. Yes these are camel droppings, which can be gathered up and used for cooking fuel. At the large camel fairs you will mostly see young children gathering it up in pans like this one all through the day and night. It is then taken to a place where they can spared it out to dry.

Btw camel dung is not worth much, unlike cow dung which is sold by the dung venders. It is pressed and formed by hand into nice round pieces about a inch thick and will often have a hand print in it.

Another little known fact about camel poo...

In the desert, it's used by nomads to line babies nappies! It dries quickly, and then becomes very absorbant, we've been burning it on our wood burner through the winter and it burns well with little smell, thank goodness we don't have a baby to try the "nappy theory" out on!!

We do have keen vegetable growers who regularly use our camel poo though, although, we do have a strange black mushroom that grows out of it!! Anyone with any ideas what this is??
