There’s a lot of misinformation out there about camels. If you do a search to find out how old the oldest camel lived, you may find; At the Griffith Park Zoo in Los Angeles in 1934 the last captive offspring of the government camels, Topsy, died at the age of 80.

How do they come up with this age of 80, well read this below;

During the 1850s 77 camels called Texas home. The U.S. military used the camels on numerous road and boundary survey expeditions for packing supplies through the arid Southwest before, during and after the Civil War. After the war most of the camels were auctioned off, ending up in private hands and later were sold to circuses and traveling shows.

So we now know that the army camels were brought to America in the 50s and Topsy died in 1934, this makes the camel about 80 years old. A camel may live to be in its 50s, but surly not 80s. So how can this be? If you read it closely, I think you will see their error.

And you may ask where was poor Topsy buried, well with a old timer named Hi Jolly who worked with the army camels. His real name was Hadji Ali, and he's remembered today at a pyramid-shaped monument in Quartzsite Arizona.
