I'm one of the moderators of a pet web site, (www.goodpaws.org) primarily dogs and cats but other animals welcome..and the mods there would have stepped in long ago in this thread.

Now I see both have made valid points...lets not forget the big picture here...we are all trying to learn about camels, a (relatively speaking) rare animal here in the states. So Camel4ever's expertise is more than welcome...for my money anyway..but I am willing to listen to points made by others too

and yes...I strongly supported gelding or neutering of pet animals..unless you reallywant them to breed...the US has a big enough problem with "accidental" animals births as it is.

I don't think anyone was trying to make camel4ever feel unwelcome. His expertise is more than welcome, his judgement of others however is not. Thankfully we are all adults on his forum and we don't need moderators.... at least not yet lol

Wow McKennessy, you must lead a sheltered life if your moderators would have intervened way earlier on this thread. Some of the lists I have been on have flame ons that you wouldn't believe. I felt that the participants in this disagreement behaved admirably well.

I know where you are coming from on your gelding opinions due to "accidental" animal births in the United States. The Bactrian population in South Louisiana has exploded with all of the unneutered camels running around loose down here. We really need a camel leash law in the worst way! ;)

Heh, heh. Yesterday at the vets a lady walked across the parking lot to look at my camel. She had never seen one up close before and was really excited. she asked me where I got him and I winked at the vet and replied, "I caught him running down the road in front of my house. The woods behind my house are full of them." She was amazed! "Really?" "Naw." We all busted out laughing and I told her the truth. She was a great sport. I find that most people who approach my camel are animal lovers and seem to be really nice. Always a pleasure to answer their questions.

DMiller..yes we have all seen major flame fests..and that is why the mods at Goodpaws step in quickly when the heat turns up..and they are not "my"mods..I am not the adminstrator..just one of the mods..

And my basic point remains..we are all here to learn more about camels...that the common thread that links us all...

Hi Mack.

Even though I jested with you I agree wholeheartedly with you about neutering pets. At my place I have 8 dogs and 5 of them are drop offs. Simply left on a country road to fend for themselves. Four of these abandoned dogs were not pups but 2-3 year olds with excellent temperment and beautiful loving spirits. So eager to please and so hungry for affection that I just can't fathom why someone would abandon them.

Well, they're here now and they're mine and my place is the better for their presence.

Dog spelled backward is God. Might want to be a little careful how we treat them. ;)

Camel4ever may be welcome, but his sexist comments (even in jest) are not.

Hi Stephanie, thank you for your tolerance.:notworthy

I am sorry if you misunderstood my comments as sexist! Women are certainly the better part of the 50% of the human race.

It would be interesting to know the percentage of female and male forum members. My guess is 5% boys and 95 % ladies. I wonder why so many ladies are forum members. Perhaps because ladies are much more committed to the camel world in a s....ntal and r....antic way. Perhaps they miss something in their life and only the camel is able to fulfill it. :devil1
