I have a few pictures up of Baby's castration, for those interested.

You can view them here: http://www.restarea1mile.com/camel2008.html

Just scroll down to December.

Please excuse the quality, they were shot with a celphone camera.

Thanks for posting the pictures. A couple of questions. Is the doctor a camel doc or an equine vet? In your research, did you ever arrive at a concensus of opinion as to the best age to fix a camel?

Thanks,
Doug

She's never worked with camels before. She's an equine veterinary.

I believe the best age to castrate a camel is between 18-24 months.

Any sooner and they could develop physical problems -- any later and they may develop bad behaviour patterns due to hormonal changes.

Thank you for all your posts, Stephanie! They have been all extremely interesting. I also appreciate your pictures.

I think you will be very happy with your decision to castrate.

How are Baby and the llama getting along?

I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. I'm only sorry there wasn't more, but I wasn't able to take any myself.

Baby and my llama are getting along fine so far. :D
