Hi all,
I'm in India again, been here for 2 days now and have not see any camels or elephants yet. I will be going to Hampi next and I know there are some elephants there. it will be nice seeing more animals around when I get out into the country.

OH ROGER... RUB IT IN WHY DON'T YOU!!
I'm so very envious, I was supposed to be there for October... firstly for a friends wedding, and then to do the camel rounds...
Sadly, my friend inadvertently got pregnant, and the BIG INDIAN wedding was cancelled... and thus my trip!
Send us loads of photo's though, and bring me a few elephants - would love them for my next project!!

I had a good time in India again, well that is in most of the place that I went. I don’t like the large cities there.
I spent most of my time in the small community of Himpi and that was very pleasant. There’s one elephant, many cows, buffalos, monkeys and a few other types of animals around, but no camels.
I’m thinking of going back to India for the Nagaur Cattle Fair in February, lots of camels there and I’ve been told that it’s better than the Pushkar Camel Fair.
Something new, a good friend is getting 2 young bangle tigers, one is a white female. This friend wants me to help her and learn to be one of the tiger handlers. I don’t know tiger body language but I have another good friend that is a semi retried large cat handler with over 30 years experience.
Anyway, here is the link to my India vacation photos, in virtual realty of course:

I got to play with my two new friends today, but I only got some photos of the yellow tiger and me playing together. The white tiger is the same age and size, I will be shooting some pictures of her and me together over the next few weeks.
Acutely you don’t play with baby tigers, because they will be very dangers when they grow up and still think you’re their play toy. In the photos the tiger was trying to play with me and I was stopping her.
And yes, that is a white Bactrian camel and a zebra in the background

I was out playing with tigers again today and as you can see they are getting bigger.
After that the vet came by to treat a small wound on my zebra Dandy, but she was having nothing to do with him so no treatment was done. Anyway, the vet thought the wound didn’t look that bad and it should heal fine, and to just give Dandy some oral antibiotics.
My camel Gobi is very active on these cold days, in the morning he comes running over see me and then goes running off jump around for awhile having fun.

In less than a week I will be back in India again. I will be doing a lot of traveling going to some wild animal sanctuaries, through Pushkar and Bikaner where camels are still being used, maybe more that any another place in the world.
My main reason for going will be attending the 2 events below.
Nagaur Cattle festival:
Nagaur awakens with the thronging of cattle, horses and camels accompanied by their colorfully turbaned owners. There is earnest bargaining between owners and buyers, and plenty of fun and festivity. Games, tug-of-war contests, camel races and strains of ballads create a joyful atmosphere with the setting sun in the background.
Desert festival:
One of the most popular among the festivals of Rajasthan, the Jaisalmer Desert festival is a journey into the heart of the Rajasthan desert, the golden city of Jaisalmer. Folk performers like musicians, ballad singers, snake charmers, and puppeteers all exhibit their traditional skills. There are exciting camel dances, camel acrobatics, camel races, and camel polo, competitions for the best decorated camel. The culmination is a sound and light spectacle on a moonlit night amidst sand dunes.

Wow Roger, one of these days I would love to follow your path out there. Please get some polo photos, I LOVE seeing these games as I used to be a very active polo (on horses) player. If you could, please find out the average length of their polo mallets. Also, do they use regular wooden polo balls or the larger softer arena polo balls? This is all so very interesting. I hope you have a great time and I know you'll get some wonderful photos!!
