I have no experience with camels suffering hair loss so the following is from a book I own:-
Mange - starts in armpits and groin. Initially there is small bumps, then hairloss , then thickening of the skin and severe itching.
Ringworm - hairless spots with thick geyish white crusts. Usually only occurs with young animals.
Lice and Fleas - usually most obvious on flanks and shoulders. Causes hair loss, itchiness and irritation.

Hi
Tessa lost a large amount of hair from her rear end, legs and face a few years ago. It wasn't mange, but a parasite that had the same effect, and we had to give her 3 injections over a couple of weeks. The treatment was the same as for mange. Thankfully we have a great vet and he was right on with the treatment. She starting clearing up straight away and it hasn't come back.
In the short term, you can possibly relieve it by plastering the bald spots with sorbolene cream, hemp cream or similar thick goo.
Good luck with it.

Be careful around the eyes, but we had a parasite problem and were advised to apply a thin solution of Ivomectin on a cotton wool pad, cleared up within a few days... has he / she lost it anywhere else - isn't it spring down under???

what did you end up treating it with? Did you find the cause?
Glad it's clearing up.
