First of all, hi everyone. This is my first post. Seems like a great forum for us camel lovers.

OK, so this is sort of along the lines of the previous thread. Does anyone know if Camels are legal in Canada? Does anyone know of any Canadian Camel farmers? I've been searching high and low, but haven't found any information. I'm sure the regulations vary by province, but it would be great if anyone could pass along any information, no matter how general. I'm a long way out from making my dream of having a camel farm come true, one way or the other. But I'd like to know whether or not it's a possibility.

Secondly, I'm planning on buying a place near the ocean. I'm sure with a good strong shelter some Bactrians would be fine in terms of the temperature, but would they be bothered at all by the humidity or salt air. I know someone who has a llama farm in a similar environment, but despite being close relations, we're talking about two very different animals from two very different native habitats.

Finally, if anyone could point me in the direction of a good book on raising camels, I would appreciate it. I have a good deal of experience with horses, and I have ridden camels before, but I need to do a lot of research before I seriously contemplate this...

Thanks,
James

Sorry mate,
don't know an answer to any of your questions...
and a good book on raising camels - I haven't come across one yet :(

Most of the literature is specialised.
Here you can find a list (not up-to-date though) of some of it (Scroll down to "Books"):
