Trying to think of some new camel games to play with my camels and llamas, currently I have them taking off my hat, saying bonjour, ringing a bell, bringing me flowers in their mouths and bending on one knee to give them to me... would really like some new games to keep them entertained - anyone with ideas please let me know!!

How do you start training them to do such things?

Hi Ivieacres
I've just read your various threads, good luck with your camel! In the first instance, I wouldn't worry about your camel learning to say hello, or bringing flowers!!!!!

When you feed him always be sure he backs up out of your space and allows you the courtesy of entering the pen with a bucket without being mugged. It may be an idea to feed little and often, so you practise this exercise 5 - 6 times a day until he gets the idea. Always carry a rope so you can swing it over to get him out of your space if necessary.

I'd strongly suggest your camel needs to learn a bit of respect, and so asking it to back up and get out of your space is of highest priority!!!!

We do have a camel clicking training workshop here in France in June, this trains everything from the basics of camel behaviour and respect, to desensitising, walking with a handler, cushing - WITHOUT ropes and sticks, and preparing to ride. This is a three day course, with a further 2 days dedicated to "camel riding"

Please email me if you would like more details.
First and foremost, please be safe, his behaviour towards you is not acceptable.

I would like to attend a camel training and can't seem to find one here in the US this year. I looked at one taught in Austrailia but it would cost too much to get there. France? hmm-never bee to Europe but sounds like an adventure, might more reasonable to fly. Yes I would like to here more about your training----Please let me know--

I'm by no means a trainer (though I'm having great luck with my camel), but I'm just one state below you (arizona). Maybe one day you could trailer your camel down for a camel play day.
