Can you ride a camel in a hackmore split reined? I ride my horse in a very simple rope hackmore and it got me to thinking if it would ever work on a camel. I don't think I've ever seen it done before, and surely there's a reason for it.

I know you ride a camel with a single rein, but why not two with tension the chin.

Also has anyone taught a camel rein directions by driving from behind? I can walk behind my camel and get him to move out ahead of me, and I thought maybe this could lead to driving...

Yep long reining / or driving works exactly the same way as breaking in a horse. There is a guy here that doesnt peg any of his camels, and they are all long reined when breaking them in, then ridden with a split rein (rather than a single one);)

In India they use 2 nose pegs and 2 reins, makes riding a camel very easy.
For using a hackamore see this page and the link going to equipment.
