camels

I live in an area where there's little to zero Selenium in the soil and therefore there's none in our local hay. I knew this before I got my camel, and I've been supplementing him since he arrived with me at 30 days.
Almost every bottle I gave him would be mixed with selenium. Then after he was weaned, I would mix selenium in with his loose salt.
Lately I've been really worried that I gave him enough at this crucial stage. He's 13 months old now, and I still am mixing selenium in with his salt.
I heard recently that about a 3 year old camel having a heart attack suddenly due to lack of selenium.
Surely though my supplementing him was enough though? These camels that die probably were not receiving any? Too be honest I may have give him too much, but obviously he never had any toxicity problems.
I guess I'm just looking for reassurance.
I could test his blood now for selenium, but I can't go back in time to when he was being bottle fed during that crucial time and test, so I'm very nervous about it.
For those of you with camels over the age of 5 or so, and that live in an area where there is no natural selenium. How much did you give that let your camel grow up healthy?
