My bf, lives in Iraq. Hes coming to Canada next month, he has a camel, her name's Samira, adorable omg! Love her to pieces!! Only thing is, he kinda doesn't wanna leave her. I don't mean hes planning on bringin' her with him when he comes, but can he not have her imported to come here? Thats the first question. I heard that can happen. Next, is it unheard of to keep a camel in Canada? I've heard theres some in the US...I'm so new to this camel thing it's pathetic! I know next to nothing, and only go on what I've heard. Obviously if we're gonna raise her here, shes a baby btw, we would have to move from the city to the country. I can do that. I just wanna know if keeping her is doable. Thanks lol...this is the first forum I can post about Samira without being made to look like a freak, so anyone have answers?

You will have to see if Canada allows the import of camels (the united states does not)
Here is a link - you will have to research this:

You can have camels in most places in the US, they just can't be imported and come from stock already in the country.

I checked with the Washington State Department of Agriculture (that's where I live) and if I was to buy a camel from out of state (in the U.S.) it would need a negative TB and Brucellosis test - and a travel permit number (obtained from them) Other than that, there is no restriction (a camel in Washington State would not need to be tested to be moved - although it's a good idea when one is buying a camel)
Other than that, you would need to check with your own country and/or state department of agriculture for their rules and regulations.
I do know importing horses is very expensive and time consuming - I can imagine a camel would be just as expensive.

Good luck, I hope you can get him home. Surely he'd have a much better life with you.
How old is he now?

You never know. Maybe you can get a little camel of your own after you're done raising her together.

I'd love to get another one myself, but I'd hate for my attention to have to be divided between the two of them. And I don't know about walking them both at once! :)
