I surely hope you have a veterinarian somewhere near you because I start worrying about your camels and often wonder if you ever get any help for them. Sorry to be nosey, but there must be a vet near you, I hope?

I just found today the homepage...what a great place to exchange knowledge and questions....
Anyway, we at Ohio State University work with a large number of camelids (e.llamas and alpacas) but we are also interested in camels and would be happy to help with any type of questions or concerns you might have with your camel.
To diagnose something from a distance without a physical examination of the camel is very difficult but we could give our knowlegde and in combination with some pictures we can work on cases and try to find out the problem.

HI thanks for your concerns - we're really fortunate to have the most excellent relationships with some of the worlds leading camelid vets, I always put a posting on here - firstly - because it's an excellent source of information, and also, because if I discover a problem with one of my camels then obviously my first port of call is the internet - Camel Mania being part of that support network - afterall - isn't that what it's for. ALSO - many of the vets in my network are asleep first thing in the morning, when the US is awake and I discover a problem - I hope you too consider sharing your camel problems too - isn't that what this forum is about?

Further more - just to let the kind and concerned camel owners know, we disinfected the lump which ( thanks to one of our wonderful vets) diagnosed a rat bite. She is fine and well.

Kind regards and thanks again to all for your continued support - I hopeto keep using this forum for the purposes it was designed.

Sorry Kameldame - I meant to answer your kind posting also

We work hand in hand with our vets ( who are not camel experts - there aren't any in the S of France) - however, we usually make an examination, then consult the specialists, and follow their directions for further explotation and tests, then we feed the results back to the experts for analysis. This has been hugely supportive in the past, if it's Ok with you I will also email you directly.

We also take vetinerary students on placement here.

Kind regards
