I went to the San Diego Zoo the other day, and I stood in front of the Bactrian camels for about two and a half hours without moving. Yes, it gave me severe sunburn, but it was totally worth it. The zoo has a bull, a cow, and a female calf. They're really fun to watch. The female seems to be a bit moody, and she yells at the male and bites him. Anyway, they're great, and it was nice to see some camels in person. I totally need to get one someday.

Last time I was there must have been about 10 years ago, and long before that I even rode a camel when they still had the camel rides.
More recently when I was down there I went to the wild animal park, the Spots N Strips Ranch to work with the zebras and not far from there to the camel dairy

It's fab watching camels eh!
Before I had my own, I could spend hours watching them - now I have my own, I DO spend hours watching them!
We had a grandad here with his grandchildren the other day and he spent over 3 hours watching them, grooming them and learning about our training techniques - he told us he'll be back soon, but without the children as a distraction!!

That's great! I just can't wait till I have the land and the expertise to get a camel of my own. In Southern California, where I live, there are tons of horse ranches and private horse owners. There are equestrian trails near my house, and I see the horses all the time. It'd be wonderful to shock some of those horse owners with a big bactrian camel. :D
