About This Site

A complete makeover is being done to this website, and believe me it's a lot of hard work! Hopefully most of it will be done within the next month. Then begins the adding of new pages to keep this the ultimate camel site for years to come!
About The Person Behind This Site

It's just me, myself and I. And this is a lot of work for only one person!

Roger at Pushkar As you may have guessed by now my name is Roger Berry, and I have some good four legged animal friends! I have lived in Southern California all my life and grew up working around horses, about 20 years ago before llamas became popular I got some and started using them to pack into the backcountry.

Why did I get a camel? Well I thought they would be like a big llama only with the advantage that you could ride them. I was wrong! They are much better than llamas, more like having a big puppy dog around.

Lately I have started traveling to far off places in search of more information about camels. This year I’m making plans for going back to India, only this time I will be taking a professional video camera along to capture the techniques used in India for training and working with these fantastic animals!

Off to India

With my 30 day trip to India only days away ( Oct 5 ) I have not been doing much updating to this site. When I get to India, I plan on shooting a video documentary about the lives of working animals and their handlers. My trip will end at the Pushkar Camel Fair where last year there were over 13,000 animals, most were camels but there were also thousands of horses and cattle too. The way of life these people live and the harmony they have with the animals is being lost as technology takes over. Very little has been done to capture their way of life whereas in places like Africa there are many books and documentaries about them.

I hope to spend time living with these friendly people and tell their story.
